Texas Cup Rules & Point System

 

1) Only Vietnamese are qualified to play on the Annual Texas Cup. 

 

2) Top 18 players from each tournament will receive the following Texas Cup points distribution outlined below.  All others outside top 18 will receive 5 pts.   All scores are based on gross scores.

If there is a tie in the standing, the points are shared. Club championship points will be doubled.

 

3) Texas Cup is made up of 12 A players and 12 B players. The top 10 players ranked highest in the Texas Cup point standings will automatically earn a spot on the Texas Cup Team.


    Tie breaker will be determined by:
  • 1st Tie Breaker = Tournament Participation (number of tournaments played in current year)
  • 2nd Tie Breaker = Average score from all sanctioned Texas Cup Point tournaments in the current year (excludes year end tournament)

 

4) The 11th thru 18th spots will be determined in a match play playoff for the final 2 spots. Players 11 thru 18 in the Texas Cup standings at the end of the year will be seeded 1 thru 8. If any player in the playoff does not show up for the match then the playoff field will be re-seeded so that the top seeds will receive byes in the first round. The playoff golf course will be determined by the Ryder Cup chairman.

5)  If for any reason that one of the 12 Texas Cup players cannot make it to the competition at the last minute, the next highest point earner will fill the gap. It is important that you earn as much points as you can.

 

6) If there are any issues that are not covered in the rules above, the Ryder Cup Chairman will make the decision when the time comes. Good luck and enjoy the competition. 



Texas Cup FAQ

Texas Cup Tournament Information
 
The Teams will compete in the following form of play
  • First Round: Two man Scramble Match Play consists of six matches for each flight.
  • Second Round: Four ball Match Play consists of six matches for each flight.
  • Final Round: Individual Match Play consists of twelve matches for each flight.
 
Flights
There will be two flights: Flight A and Flight B. Each flight is considered to be a separate competition.
 
Scoring
Each match score will be calculated pursuant to USGA rule 2 which governs Match play. The winner of each match will receive 1 point. The losing side will receive 0 point. In the event the match ends in a tie, each side will receive a half of a point.
 
Rules
Local and USGA Rules of Golf govern all play.
